The Band is a celebration of the legendary bassist Louis Johnson. When I was starting out, hearing The Brothers Johnson track 'Stomp!" for the first time at a School Disco blew me away. I needed to hear more and subsequently bought the albums 'Light Up The Night', 'Winners', 'Look Out For #1' and 'Right On Time' and made it my mission to learn some of these great bass lines. I bought myself a walnut brown Musicman Stingray (sadly stolen years ago) and got on with the task. I loved playing along with the hits but it was the instrumentals that really caught me ear, tunes like 'Smilin' On Ya', Mista' Cool' and 'Celebrations'. With Louis' passing in 2015 I decided to form a Band to play this Music as I realised this would be my only opportunity to play these songs. It has been a fun journey and 'Thunderthumbs' is the result.

The Band features songs from Louis' group The Brothers Johnson as well as choice cuts from Quincy Jones, George Benson, George Duke, Michael Jackson, Jeffrey Osborne, Michael MacDonald along with many others.

The set-list includes songs from throughout Louis’ career from his time with Billy Preston in 1972 through to The Brothers Johnson and the Quincy Jones produced hits, songs like George Benson’s Love X Love, Quincy Jones tracks ‘The Dude’, ‘Ai No Corrida’, Michael MacDonald’s ‘I Keep Forgettin’ and his own group The Brothers Johnson’s ‘Strawberry Letter 23’, ‘Stomp’ as well as a whole host of funky instrumentals.

The Band lineup is;
